Historic Charlotte, Inc Received a Gertrude S. Carraway Award of Merit from Preservation North Carolina
This past September, Historic Charlotte, Inc was awarded a Gertrude S. Carraway award of merit for our innovative Save Our Signs campaign. The award is from Preservation North Carolina, the leading preservation non-profit in the state, and one of the most revered organizations of this kind in the country.
Receiving this award capped off a great year for the Save Our Signs fund, which included the relocation and relighting of the JFG sign, now atop the VBGB Beer Hall and Garden at the N.C. Music Factory, and the restoration and relocation of the Reid's Fine Foods sign.
Thanks to all of those that supported us in our efforts to bring attention to and help save vintage signs in the Charlotte area. A new driving tour brochure called "Roadside Wonders" will be published soon!
