The Importance of Charlotte’s
Mid-Century Modern Architecture
Mid-Century Modern is an architectural, interior
and product design form that generally describes
post-war developments in modern design from
roughly 1945 to 1965. Dr.
Lee Gray, Dean of The College of Arts +
Architecture at UNC Charlotte,
will kick off Historic Charlotte’s fall Learning
Series with a lecture focusing on the important
role that modern architecture played in making
Charlotte a “New South” city.
